Earth Island Institute Identity

Identity for International Dolphin Freedom Day 2012

Background
Earth Island Institute is a not for profit organisation that supports people who are creating solutions to protect the environment. One of the programs involved creating an International Dolphin Freedom Day (IDFD) to raise awareness about the ills of dolphin captivity.

Solution
The charity and not for profit sector competes with many other organisations for market share. A positive message was required to encourage adoption and to represent these beautiful mammals. The logo is a purely typographical solution, using the sillouette of a dolphin to symbolise and spell out “freedom”. The hand drawn typeface suits the free flowing nature of dolphins, and the entire identity has a positive feel, focusing heavily on FREEDOM and encourages the audience to delve deeper into the logo to understand all aspects.

Results
The logo received a positive response in market testing and is currently being rolled out for use in the first International Dolphin Freedom Day.
